What we collect
When you request a personalized newsletter, we collect exactly three things:
- Your email address — so we can deliver your sample issue.
- Your request text — what you tell us you want covered.
- Your LinkedIn profile PDF — which you choose to upload, so we can personalize the issue to your background and interests.
We do not run advertising on this site. We do use Google Analytics to understand aggregate readership — see Analytics below.
Why we collect it
For the request form above: for one purpose only — to build your personalized sample issue. We do not use the information you submit in the request form for anything else. (Analytics, accounts, and newsletters each have their own stated purpose below.)
Who processes it
Issues are produced with AI assistance by the site operator (Read Achilles). Your request text and LinkedIn PDF are read as part of building your issue — by software, and by the operator when reviewing quality. No one else sees them.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how readers use the site — which pages are visited, how readers arrive, and which signup buttons get clicked — so we can improve the newsletters. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes pseudonymous usage data on Google's servers; we do not combine it with the email addresses or request details you submit. You can opt out entirely with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Accounts (optional)
Accounts (optional). You can read everything on Read Achilles without an account. If you create one, we store your learning progress (which lessons and quizzes you've completed) and newsletter preferences so they're available on all your devices. Your account also works on Achilles Desk (achillesdesk.com) — moving between the two sites is a one-click handoff, and each site keeps its own sign-in. Your email address is used to sign you in, to send the newsletters you choose, and for account notices such as deletion confirmation. Our service providers — Resend (sign-in emails) and Cloudflare (hosting and storage) — process data on our behalf and never sell it. You can delete your account at any time; deletion deactivates it immediately (with a "Restore your account?" option for 30 days) and permanently removes your data after 30 days. Deleting your Read Achilles account also ends your Achilles Desk access — the game account is deactivated at the same time. You can sign out on one device, or choose "Sign out everywhere": signing out everywhere on Read Achilles also signs you out of Achilles Desk. (Signing out from inside the game signs you out there; your Read Achilles sign-in may remain until you sign out here.) Sign-in emails are sent only when you request them. Newsletter signups you made before creating an account stay separate unless you choose to link them; signups you chose to link are deleted with your account. Signups you never linked are separate records: deleting your account does not delete them — use the unsubscribe option described below. For security we keep a log of sign-ins and sign-in failures — including a partial IP address — for 90 days, then delete it. We'll email you to confirm when deletion starts.
We analyze learning progress in aggregate (e.g. which lessons are completed most) to improve the Center — never tied to your identity in reports.
Newsletters & unsubscribing
If you have an account, you can turn any newsletter off in your newsletter preferences at any time — withdrawing consent takes effect in your preferences immediately and is honored everywhere within 10 business days.
To unsubscribe, click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email. If you have a Read Achilles account, you can also manage your preferences in Settings.
Game accounts (Achilles Desk)
Achilles Desk (achillesdesk.com) — the trading simulation — is a separate site with its own sign-in. Signing in on Read Achilles does not sign you in to Achilles Desk, and vice versa: moving between the two is a one-click handoff, and each site keeps its own sign-in session.
A game account holds what the game needs to run: your email address (to sign you in), your player profile (your callsign), and your gameplay records. Achilles Desk is live now at achillesdesk.com.
Game privacy notice (live). Your gameplay records are the records of play itself — such as your picks, scores, progress, badges, and streaks. There is no real-money wagering and no prizes. We use gameplay records to run the game and to improve it in aggregate — never tied to your identity in reports. Your game account follows the same account rules described above: deleting your Read Achilles account deactivates your game account at the same time (with a 30-day restore window, then permanent removal), and “Sign out everywhere” signs you out of Achilles Desk too. Direct game sign-in is for players old enough to consent where they live; younger players can play only through teacher-managed classroom play with parental consent (see below).
Students & classrooms
Teacher-managed classroom play is planned but not yet available. When it launches, play by students under 13 (US, COPPA) or under 14 (Quebec, Law 25) will require parental consent; the full details — what data is collected, who can see it, and how long it is kept — will be in the school data agreement published before any classroom pilot, alongside the game privacy notice above. Until then there is no classroom data collection to describe.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only while the service operates and only as long as needed to fulfill requests. You can ask us to delete everything at any time — see below — and we will.
Your rights
- Access: ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your email, request text, and PDF, and we will do so promptly.
- Withdrawal: you can withdraw consent at any time; we will stop processing and delete your data.

What we never do
- We never sell your personal information.
- We never share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We never publish your email, request, or LinkedIn profile.
Security
Submissions travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure with access limited to the site operator. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep collection minimal and access narrow by design.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Continued use of the request form after a change means you accept the updated policy.
